Unless you live under a rock, you’ve probably heard of argan oil. It is referred to as “liquid gold” and touts numerous benefits to skin, hair, and nails. Derived from the nut of the Argan tree, this special oil is rich in vitamin A and vitamin E. It also packs antioxidants, Omega-6 fatty acids, Omega-3 fatty acids, and linoleic acid.
For some time now, I have been using argan oil instead of a regular moisturizer on my face, and I love how soft and supple it makes my skin feel. It absorbs really well into the skin, without leaving a greasy feeling. You know how your face sometimes feels dry after taking a shower? A drop or two of argan oil helps to rehydrate the skin. Since argan oil is rich in antioxidants, it is excellent for anti-aging purposes as well! Our co-contributer, Farah, also swears it helps fade out old scars.
Try putting a few drops of argan oil in your hair too, especially at the ends where hair is usually dry. I rub a few drops into my hair before blowdrying or flat ironing. It restores your hair’s natural shine, tames frizz, and promotes healthy hair growth. Some people also use it as a hair mask to restore dry and damaged hair.
In the winter time, I mix a drop of argan oil into my foundation to prevent the cakey, dry skin look.
My kids faces and arms dry out quite a bit during the winter months. Lotions seem to annoy them as they can be greasy and have added fragrance. They prefer argan oil because it doesn’t really have any fragrance and feels lighter than lotion. And since it’s all natural, I prefer to use it on them as well.
Adeela, here at Honey and Dates, has been using it consistently for the last 6 months and has noticed her lashes have thickened considerably. With the constant use of mascara and eyeliner, it’s only normal for lashes to fall out, but argan oil helps them grow back quicker. It’s also a great eye makeup remover!
I skip the expensive brand name stuff at Sephora and buy 100% organic argan oil from Amazon.com. Make sure you purchase the purest form of argan oil. Hope you try this versatile oil for all your beauty needs. Tell us how you use argan oil and what you think of it!
