Ramadan is less than a week away inshaAllah, and I’m busy trying to get everything done in time so that during Ramadan I can concentrate on ibadaah, and wonder how much longer til iftar time ๐
For the last four years I’ve been making a Ramadan countdown calendar. My baby is still too young for his own, but my girls are almost 7 and 4 and they look forward to this with a lot of excitement! You can find some of the ones from previous years here and here.
Usually I would add a good deed, or a lesson from the sunnah inside the countdown calendar, but this year I decided to do that separately. Insha’Allah they will take a star from their good deed tree in the morning, and try to achieve it at some point during the day.
In the evenings we can read the 30 stories from the Prophet’s (SAW) life, or another Islamic book of their choice. And at iftar time is when they can open their countdown present.
My girls are obsessed with surprise balls, so I figured they can unwrap a little each day (I put in 30 presents), and the excitement of unwrapping it can last the entire month. I put tape in between each layer, so they don’t accidentally open the next streamer in all their excitement!
My daughters are currently into accessories: dangling earrings, bracelets, necklaces, hair ties and pins, and rings! Since these things are so tiny, it made it a lot easier for me. And in the middle is a large plastic egg, with a cute little zooming toy (which I’m pretty sure their baby brother will like more than them!).
I bought streamers in their favorite colors, and decorated the outside with some holographic 8-pointed stars. They have the same stars in a larger size decorating their room for Ramadan ๐ You can decorate the outside with whatever theyโre into or cover it up with some pretty gold or silver streamers to make it more festive!
Insha’Allah I can’t wait to see them unwrapping theirs on the first day ๐ Allahumma ballighna Ramadan!
